Service Highlight: Grandparent DNA Testing
This week, we’d like to highlight our grandparent DNA test service. Grandparentage testing is commonly performed when a child’s alleged father is unavailable to take a paternity test and the paternal grandparents want to know if the child is biologically related to them.
A grandparentage test works by comparing a child’s DNA profile to the profiles of both paternal grandparents (the alleged father’s biological parents). Children inherit their DNA from their biological parents, who inherited their DNA from their biological parents. Therefore, by looking for specific patterns of genetic inheritance between a child and his or her paternal grandparents, we can tell if they are biologically related. (We also encourage the child’s mother to contribute a DNA sample to assist in the testing process.)
For more information about grandparent DNA testing from Beta Paternity, please visit our Grandparentage Testing page or call us at 1-800-798-3810. We can help you determine if it is the right DNA testing service for your family situation.
