Service Highlight: Sibling DNA Testing
Friday, November 3rd, 2006To help individuals verify whether they are biologically related as full or half siblings, Beta Paternity offers siblingship DNA testing.
We perform two types of sibling DNA tests:
- A half siblingship test is conducted when two people know they have different mothers but are curious about whether they have the same biological father.
- A full siblingship test is conducted when two people know they have the same mother and are curious about whether they also have the same biological father.
A sibling DNA test requires the participation of the two alleged siblings. In addition, we strongly encourage the alleged siblings’ mother(s) to participate whenever possible. Their contribution of DNA samples aids the DNA analysis and helps the laboratory achieve more conclusive results.
The results of a siblingship test present a Combined Siblingship Index, which expresses the genetic odds in favor of (or against) the tested sibling relationship.
