Service Highlight: Grandparent DNA Testing

Friday, August 25th, 2006

This week, we’d like to highlight our grandparent DNA test service. Grandparentage testing is commonly performed when a child’s alleged father is unavailable to take a paternity test and the paternal grandparents want to know if the child is biologically related to them.

A grandparentage test works by comparing a child’s DNA profile to the profiles of both paternal grandparents (the alleged father’s biological parents). Children inherit their DNA from their biological parents, who inherited their DNA from their biological parents. Therefore, by looking for specific patterns of genetic inheritance between a child and his or her paternal grandparents, we can tell if they are biologically related. (We also encourage the child’s mother to contribute a DNA sample to assist in the testing process.)

Special Offer: $100 Discount on Legal Tests

Friday, August 18th, 2006

Many people who need DNA paternity tests choose to undergo in-home testing, such as that offered by Beta Paternity, so they can perform the tests quietly in the privacy of their own homes.

Sometimes, though, clients who buy in-home paternity tests decide to follow up with legal tests once they receive their test results. Legal paternity testing produces results that are defensible in courts of law, which is useful for situations involving child support and child custody disputes.

To assist clients who find themselves in this situation, Beta Paternity and our sister company, DNA Diagnostics Center (DDC), have teamed up to offer a special discount. If you undergo private paternity testing with Beta Paternity and later choose to order a legal test, you are eligible to receive a $100 discount on the legal paternity test. DDC is the world’s largest private DNA testing laboratory and strictly follows the chain of custody process to ensure that all its test results are legally defensible.

For more information about this special offer, please call 1-800-798-3810.

Maintaining our patients’ confidentiality is a top priority at Beta Paternity. You can trust us to protect your privacy and handle your paternity test discreetly.

Our strict confidentiality policy includes the following measures:

  • We will password-protect your case file with a password you supply. When you set up your paternity test, we will ask you for a password. Any time you or another tested party contacts us for information about your test, we will ask for the password before releasing any information. We will also ask for the unique case reference number assigned to your test.
  • We will only contact you by the method you request. You can opt to communicate with us by phone, email, and/or fax, with delivery options of USPS or courier delivery. We will be sure to follow any instructions you provide for communicating with you privately.
  • We will only send mail in plain envelopes. We will send our Beta Self-Collection™ Kit and any other mailings (such as the test results) in plain, unmarked envelopes. The exception to this rule is if you request to receive your kit or test results via courier delivery. In this case, the envelope will be simply marked with “Beta” as the sender.

If you would like to discuss our confidentiality policy or paternity tests with one of our helpful customer service representatives, please call 1-800-798-3810.
